Administrative Assistant to Job Placement
Cuyahoga Valley Career Center is seeking an
Administrative Assistant to Job Placement to start
August 1, 2008. WORK YEAR: 220 days, 8 hours
per day;
CLASS/SALARY: Administrative Assistant II ($14.78 to
$17.32 per hour depending upon experience) Benefits
include health, dental, vision, prescription drug and
life insurance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High
school diploma and previous office experience. Basic
understanding of human resource functions. Strong
written and verbal communication skills, enthusiasm,
professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain
confidentiality. Strong organizational and record
keeping skills (manual/electronic)
Strong customer service skills and exceptional ability
to interact with diverse groups including students,
employers and staff (in person, in writing, and over the
telephone.) Proficiency in Microsoft Office including
ability to integrate Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and
Outlook. Familiarity with the use of online job search
software.
Ability to satisfactorily complete
a skills evaluation. Ability to handle diversified
duties, multi-task, meet deadlines and work in a team
environment. Experience with purchasing procedures,
budget record maintenance, and forms development
helpful.
DUTIES:
Creation and extensive maintenance of databases and
spreadsheets using Microsoft Office Suite. Data entry
into existing databases and spreadsheets.
Manual/electronic file organization and maintenance.
Maintain and
prepare files, correspondence, labels, certificates,
flyers, mail merge tasks and bulk mailings.
Assist students, graduates and employers (in person,
through e-mail and telephone), with job posting
information using web-based database system with Access
interface. Assist with many diverse activities and
marketing efforts for CVCC and the Job Placement Program
to employers and the community. Assist with
graduate follow-up data collection and tracking systems
including using EMIS software.

Transition-to-Work Instructor
Cuyahoga Valley Career Center is seeking an
Transition-to-Work Instructor to starting August 25,
2008. WORK YEAR: 185 days (9 months); SALARY:
Appropriate placement on the CVCC Salary Schedule

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Valid State of Ohio Teaching
Certificate/License per Ohio Department of Education
requirements in Special Education to teach subject code
990371 (Moderate to Intensive, MH or DH); a valid
Transition-to-Work endorsement certificate or the

working with high school students with disabilities.
Strong organizational skills and communication skills,
both written and oral. Strong technology skills, both
organizationally and instructionally.
SUMMARY: Provides instruction, related services and
supervision to students with cognitive, autistic and/or
multiple disabilities, moving students toward
independence and employment, consistent with both the
students’ IEPs and the mission of Cuyahoga Valley Career
Center.
DUTIES: Understands the needs of students with multiple
disabilities and/or autism. Knowledgeable of the IEP
process and serves as an active team member. Assists in
the delivery of a continuum of services from
pre-vocational to post-secondary transition and adult
linkages. Designs and implements a functional
pre-vocational curriculum. Teaches
pre-employability/soft skills and behavioral strategies
geared toward students with severe limitations. Locates,
screens and develops community work sites. Maintains a
working knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive
devices. Works collaboratively with staff, students,
parents and outside agencies.

Automotive Service Technology Instructor
Cuyahoga Valley Career Center is seeking a
Automotive Service Technology Instructor to starting
August, 2008. WORK YEAR: 185 days (9 months); SALARY:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Valid Ohio teaching license to
teach subject code 170302 – Automotive Technology based
on Ohio Department of Education Teacher Licensure
Standards (www.ode.state.oh.us). Business/industry work
and education experience. Experience working with high
school students including special education and diverse
learners. Experience working with advisory committees,
curriculum development and off-site community and
business members. AAbility to instruct and troubleshoot
software and technical problems. The preferred candidate
will also have demonstrated strong organizational
program delivery and communication skills, both written
and oral. Strong technology skills both organizationally
and instructionally.
DUTIES: Responsible for teaching additional courses as
requested by the Supervisor. The scope of instruction
includes the development of activities and curriculum in
a wide variety of career and technical settings for
elective and academic credit in a state-of-the-art
career and technical learning facility. Work with
students to develop employability skills with hands-on
experiences utilizing classroom and other work projects.
Help students transition into business/industry and/or
post-secondary education. Work collaboratively with
career technical teaching and support staff, and special
services teams if assigned. Responsible for monitoring
student performance. Willingness to pursue required
AYES/NATEF training during the summer months and
throughout the school year as necessary. Continue to
seek opportunities for academic connections with career
technical programs.
